The End of a Chapter
It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of the birth center on September 30, 2012. We have been blessed to have attended over 700 births since 2003. It has been a great pleasure to work with our families and help them give birth in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment. Our belief in and support of women seeking natural childbirth in a setting of their choosing is unwavering. We are so sorry that our community will no longer have a birth center to serve those that want that option. Thank you so much for inviting us into your lives.

Our Village
When we opened in 2003, a few mothers and their babies attended the gatherings at the birth center. From those few mothers has grown a thriving community surrounding the birth center that welcomes mothers and families. It has become what the mothers call Our Village. While people in our culture used to have family nearby to support them during pregnancy and raising their children, many families do not have that support network these days. Here you will find a variety of different ways you can remain a part of our community as you and your family grow. Whether you are able to attend the gatherings or not, there is a way for you to stay connected. On our Ning group, we have forums related to pregnancy, parenting, for sale or trade, plus general "coffee house" discussions and a bulletin board. If you are local and your schedule allows, check our calendar for the gatherings, from the New Mom's Gathering to the Toddler Gathering. We hope you'll join us for a little conversation, friendship, and support. Welcome to our village.

Advisory Board
In order to represent the Friends of GBC and the birth center community, a Community Advisory Board was formed in 2005. They meet on a regular basis and discuss upcoming events and other ways the volunteers and community can enrich the GBC and the surrounding community.
